Design/colour-in local coats of arms for exhibition at Ealing Central Library

An opportunity for children to design or re-interpret the local coats of arms of the London Borough of Ealing and to have their work displayed in a public exhibition in the Central Library.

Action required: If you have a spare lesson please ask children to colour in or design a coat of arms for the borough. Templates and past and present designs attached. Send to Linda Davies by the end of this term.

‘What’s the Story?’ – ITV1 launches search for young author

ITV1’s Daybreak is launching a national competition to find budding authors from around the UK. Teaming up with The Gruffalo’s publisher Macmillan Children’s Books, top children’s illustrator Lydia Monks, and chart topping band The Wanted, Daybreak will be giving children a unique chance to create an illustrated book that will be published in 2012. Launching on 4 July, children aged between 7-12 years are invited to get creative and write a story of around 500 words.

Action required: Please advertise using the attached poster. Entries to be submitted by Monday 25 July 2011.
