Content of an induction programme

As the induction tutor you will have day to day responsibility for ensuring that the NQT is provided with an appropriate induction programme, ensuring quality and consistency of the programme.

The induction programme (links to the TDA website) for a newly qualified teacher should include:

a reduced timetable of 90 per cent of normal teaching duties
10 per cent preparation, planning and assessment
support from an induction tutor
observation of the NQT's teaching with feedback and a follow-up discussion
review meetings every half term to discuss progress and set objectives
observation by the NQT of experienced teachers
individualised targeted professional development that is based on the teacher's needs
termly assessment of the teacher's progress
