Roles and responsibilities

As an induction tutor or mentor you are responsible for monitoring, supporting and assessing a particular NQT. You need to be familar with the induction requirements and have relevant skills, expertise and knowledge. In particular, you should be able to provide or coordinate guidance and support, and to make rigorous and fair judgements about the new teacher's performance in relation to the induction standards.

Please note: in order to carry out the induction tutor's role, you must have QTS and be aware of the requirements of induction and have the skills to fulfil the role.
