Code of Practice for effective school governance

It is essential that governors and governing bodies understand that they have a major role in bringing about school improvement. They therefore need to understand how they can carry out this role effectively for the benefit of the school.

Code of Practice for school governors (pdf)
The National Governors' Association sets out the purpose of the governing body and describes the appropriate relationship between individual governors, the whole governing body and the leadership team of the school. This document should be discussed by the full governing body, revised to suit specific requirements and adopted following agreement of the governing body.
