Ealing primary governors' forum

All primary school governors (including special schools with primary pupils), headteachers and staff governors were invited to the first primary school governors' forum on 10 November 2010.

The forum has been established at the request of school governors and aims to provide an opportunity for governors to meet together on a termly basis to share ideas, provide support for each other, develop and extend skills and knowledge and, of course, to network.

The first session was organised and developed by a steering group of interested governors in partnership with Jayne Jardine, Ealing's Governance Development Adviser.

Feedback

There was a very good turn out with nearly 40 governors attending and 21 schools being represented.

The presentation was warmly received and we then spent an hour discussing how to take the forum forward.

There was unanimous agreement that the forum was essential as a means of governor support, especially in the current climate.

The steering group will be meeting in 2011 to discuss the next forum meeting.

Next meetings

There is now a group of 10 governors wishing to be part of the primary governors forum steering group.

Many thanks to all of them for agreeing to move this forward.

My thanks also go to Denise Maloney who has kindly organised an Ealing governors forum facebook page and an email account.
