The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) List 99 contains details of people whose employment has been barred or restricted, either on grounds of misconduct or on medical grounds.
List 99 is a sensitive and confidential document and access to it is strictly limited to the individuals responsible for checking the suitability of applicants, including volunteers working in a school environment.
The DCSF advises List 99 checks on all people who seek appointment to positions, which will bring them in contact with children and young people.
Teachers cannot be registered with the General Teaching Council if they are barred from teaching because they are on List 99.
