Health related behaviour survey

Ealing's fifth HRBS was carried out in October 2011. The work was commissioned by Ealing's Health Improvement team along with Ealing PCT/NHS. This survey will provide valuable information on the health-related behaviour of children and young people in Ealing.

Years 4 and 6 pupils completed the primary version of the questionnaire, years 8 and 10 completed the high school version. Most of Ealing's primary, high and special schools have taken part in this survey.

We expect the results in February 2012.

To access the health related behaviour surveys you will need a username and password for the EGfL. To obtain a username and password, please email EGfLWebTeam@ealing.gov.uk.

In 2009 Over 10,400 children and young people participated and 98% of schools took part in that survey.

The results were used for planning and resource allocation. The 2009 survey helped:

review and refine the PSHE curriculum and pastoral/welfare support systems
inform the school improvement plan and self-evaluation form (SEF)
identify the health and well-being priorities of children and young people at school, locality & borough level
inform the Ealing Children and Young People’s Plan 2009/10 and the 2010 Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)
provide a rationale for commissioning services and making cases for new funding streams (ie - to expand the Ealing Playground Project)

Schools that took part in 2007 recognise how valuable the data has been, helping them:

identify priorities
set outcomes
plan universal and targeted interventions
make changes so that the lives of children and young people in their schools and communities can be celebrated and improved
