Pyramid club

'Helping primary school children to fulfil their potential in school and in life by building their self-esteem…’

pyramid

The National Pyramid Trust offers a cost-effective, easy to operate system of prevention in primary schools that consists of three stages:

  1. Routine check of need: all the children in the year group have their emotional and social needs assessed using a simple checklist; this ensures that the quieter children are not overlooked.
  2. Consultation meeting: school staff, the local Pyramid co-ordinator and other interested agencies meet to share information and ensure appropriate help is available for children who present a cause for concern after the screening.
  3. Pyramid Clubs: Between 10 and 12 of the Year 3 children will be offered a chance to attend a Pyramid club once a week for a period of ten weeks. Clubs provide a safe place for the children to rehearse their social skills and gain in confidence and self-esteem within an accepting group. Club leaders are selected and trained to support and develop these all-important skills.

Ealing Pyramid project is funded in Ealing by The Children’s Fund. It is free to schools and parents. This academic year we have run five clubs (with a sixth due to start) in primary schools throughout the borough.

New to Ealing, and due to start after Easter, are transition clubs designed to support children who fit the Pyramid remit to make a successful and confident transfer from Year 6 to Year 7.
