Asset management

School buildings have an important part to play in delivering improvements in educational standards. They are valuable assets and need to be managed effectively both on a day-to-day basis and strategically.

To assist in the process of strategic decision making, the council is working with its partners to further develop and implement the asset management plan (AMP).  All primary schools have now been issued with their latest condition survey report to help them determine their priorities.

On 1 July 2010, Ealing Council entered into a 5-year contract with EC Harris to provide Estates and Valuation/Professional Building Consultancy Services.

The first year (July 2010 - June 2011) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) report is now available.  Martin Rance, EC Harris Commission Manager, comments:

"We are delighted to be the Council's property partners and we are pleased to have just completed our first major summer programme of works across the school estate.

We are working hard to deliver real improvements and increase the value the schools and the Council achieve from each project. The KPIs for this first year of our partnership are very mixed, reflecting some of the lessons we've had to learn in working within the Council's bespoke processes, but we are investing in people and processes and we are confident that the quality of the service outcomes we deliver in Ealing are already starting to rise and that the KPIs will reflect these improvements over the coming months.

We'd like to thank the schools themselves and Ealing's Schools Property Team for their continuing support, which is much appreciated by our staff."
