Who makes the decision to close
- the decision to close a school is made by the headteacher
- the chair of governors and the LA should be informed as soon as possible.
We would like to remind you that it is a statutory requirement to report any school closure to the LA, e.g. if you should decide to close your school due to weather conditions, or for any other reason.
This guidance (see right hand side links) supports the headteachers role in decision-making but is aimed to ensure the appropriateness of decision and risk assessment and consistency of decision-making across Ealing schools and to prevent closure whenever possible.
