Brentside's got talent
On Thursday 8 July, teachers from Ealing’s schools were invited to attend Brentside Primary to witness performing arts in action, and see how they can be used to develop excellence in all areas of the curriculum.
Performing arts were demonstrated through lessons and performances based on drama, music, choir, band, and dance. It was an inspirational experience for those teachers that are interested in developing the arts and raising achievement in schools.
Practice makes perfect
Visitors were invited to watch a group of year 5 and 6 pupils
practising for the upcoming school show. Pupils take it in turns to
play a variety of musical instruments, or take to the microphone to
perform vocals.

Pupils have taught each other how to play the different instruments (including keyboard and drums) in these break-time sessions. It was a great example of team work and of children as self-teaching learners.
Behaviour was excellent and the children are trusted to take part in these sessions without supervision.
Art in action

A tour around the school gave visitors the chance to admire some of the artwork that the children have produced.
It's showtime!
Pupils from years 3-6 came together to perform songs that will feature in the school show. Children sang in the choir, played in the band, and performed as part of the dance troupe!
The school is in receipt of the Artsmark Gold award from the Arts Council England. Artsmark provides a benchmark for arts provision that encourages schools to consider the opportunities they offer in art, dance, drama and music.
