We have begun a range of initiatives which use some or all of these tools to develop learning to learn across Ealing. Over time we have reflected on our practices and revised them.
These are accurate as of July 2010:
Teachers use enquiry-based practice to pioneer new innovative approaches to challenges they have identified in their own classrooms. Most enquiries last two years. The reports collated after the first year of current enquiries are available on the lead research practitioner section.

Vertical teams from 18 high schools across Ealing meet together three times a year in workshops designed to foster sharing of knowledge and learning conversations to develop new ideas. School-to-school reviews, using the appreciative enquiry approach are conducted at every school each year by their professional learning community peers.

For the first time in Ealing a publication has captured the innovative changing practices across our schools. The directory of changing practices (pdf) is a live document which so far includes all the highlights from the Ealing professional learning community learning reviews, the lead practitioner lines of enquiry and other practices volunteered by schools. It is intended both as a snap-shot glance at the creativity in learning to learn approaches across the borough, and a resource for teachers to contact and visit other schools.

ASTs are a valuable resource both for their own schools, and (because of their entitlement to use 20% of their time in outreach) for the rest of the community. In Ealing we have begun to facilitate a network for ASTs to collaborate, and share their good practice.

The below guidance was developed to support staff who wish to use learning networks to improve outcomes for young people, either within or between schools and other organisations. Written by an LA working party it is largely based on our experiences facilitating the Ealing Professional Learning Community, the Northolt Learning Partnership and working with subject leaders and lead research practitioners.
