Gifted and talented programme

The Gifted and talented programme aims to improve the identification, education and support of gifted and talented children in schools.

The main elements of the gifted and talented strand are to:

Identify the gifted and talented cohort in each school, between 5–10%
Introduce a whole school policy for the gifted and talented cohort
Introduce a distinct in-school teaching and learning programme for the cohort
Introduce a programme of out of hours study support opportunities for gifted and talented pupils through local networks including external partners such as higher education institutions, libraries, museums and businesses
