Early years foundation stage profile 2012

All registered early years providers are required to complete an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) profile for each child at the end of the academic year in which he or she reaches the age of five.

The primary purpose is to provide year 1 teachers with reliable and accurate information about each child's level of development as they reach the end of EYFS, enabling the teacher to plan an effective, responsive and appropriate curriculum that will meet all children's needs (EYFS profile handbook, NAA, 2008).

Assessment, based on observation of children's learning and development, is an integral part of the EYFS.

Practitioners need to pay close attention to the written exemplification in chapter 7 of the EYFS Handbook (NAA, 2008) and the video exemplifications on the  Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) website to ensure that their existing individual approach to assessment and recording is consistent with these exemplifications (EYFSP Handbook, NAA, 2008, p12).

EYFS eProfile (version 3.2)
The latest electronic version of the EYFS profile, which schools use to record pupil progress throughout the early years, is available on the EYFS eProfile page.

EYFS profile 2013

Following the release of the reformed EYFS Statutory Framework this year, the EYFS Profile Handbook will be published in Autumn 2012 by the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), an exective agency of the Department for Education (DfE), to support teachers and other professionals to make accurate judgements about each child's attainment for 2013. This will be made available on the DfE website and www.foundationyears.org.uk, alongside the currently available reformed EYFS documents.

EYFSP moderation 2012

In addition, the area of focus this year is problem solving, reasoning and numeracy and a record of EYFSP moderation meeting or visit 2012 (word) is available should you wish to complete the form electronically prior to the moderation visits or meetings.
