Primary national strategy

In view of the implementation of the new Ofsted framework, SEF and the school improvement partner programme, the work of the primary strategy team in Ealing will be more sharply focused. For the year 2010/11, the priorities are:

raise attainment and reduce the number of schools below floor targets at KS1 in both reading and writing
raise attainment at KS2 and reduce the number of schools below floor targets in both English and maths
support the development of leadership capacity in schools through the ISP and PLP programmes. In particular, aligning the role of the consultant leaders with the school improvement team and developing subject leader capacity through new framework training
provide training on phonics and early reading
through targeted support, improve the effective use of pupil tracking systems and use curricular target setting as whole school approach to raising standards.
