Membership of SACRE

Composition

As the local authority, the Council of the London Borough of Ealing is responsible for forming Ealing's SACRE; as such it invites appropriate bodies to send representatives to take part at meetings.

SACREs are made up of four committees, which represent the religious, community and educational interests of the following groups:

Church of England committee
Other faiths' committee
This committee consists of representatives of denominations and faiths other than the Church of England. The Council tries to ensure that representation on this committee truly reflects the make-up of the local community. The British Humanist representative is also a member of this committee.
Teachers' committee
This committee consists of representatives from teachers unions recognised by the Council of the London Borough of Ealing. Again, the Council tries to ensure that all points of view are represented.
Local Authority committee
This committee consists of members of the Council who represent the local authority, according to the political balance at the time.

SACREs may also co-opt representatives of other communities on a non-voting basis and, at present, Ealing's SACRE includes representatives of:

Meetings of Ealing SACRE are held three times a year, one in each school term.
