Designated teacher for looked after children
The Children and Young Person's act 2008 requires the governing body of a maintained school to appoint a designated member of staff to promote the educational achievement of looked after children (LAC) and care leavers on the school's roll.
The designated teacher has the lead responsibility for helping all school staff understand the world of being a looked after child and promote high expectations.
The designated teacher has lead responsibility for the development and implementation of the young person's personal education plan, promoting the educational achievement of looked after children within the school.
Looked after children feature within the OfSTED inspection frameworks for local authorities and schools.

education team. Termly meetings are held for designated teachers -
