Education social workers
The education social work service is concerned with the well-being and school attendance of pupils, working in partnership with schools, parents and other departments and agencies.
The service responds to individual cases of non-attendance at school and supports schools in ensuring good attendance by pupils. It also supports pupils with special needs and those whose welfare is of concern to schools.
The link with mainstream schools is organised through a named 'link' education social worker for each school, while special schools have a part time worker based in the school. The service also undertakes the LA's statutory duties in relation to, child protection and child employment and performance.
