This directory is changing in line with the National ‘One children’s workforce’ agenda and the shifting focus to schools learning from each other.

You will begin to see more training included from other Children's Services agencies which may be relevant to your staff, eg:

Every Child Matters (ECM) Learning Outcomes

On each course/event we indicate which of the five ECM outcomes for children and young people the event aims to support:

a clear statement of expected outcomes for the course/event, including which area/s of Every Child Matters the event aims to support
that the course will support individuals to meet school priority needs (identified in the School Improvement Plan), individual needs (identified in performance management plans) and the appropriate national standards
appropriate content delivered or facilitated by suitably qualified personnel
an appropriate variety of styles of delivery to address the variety of preferred thinking and learning styles
an assurance that content and delivery respects the gender, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of participants and the wider community
value for money
a venue and course length appropriate to the nature of the event or learning activity
the opportunity for participants to provide us with feedback about the course/event
- at the end of the course using an evaluation sheet provided
- during the course by the course facilitator using a suitable strategy for ascertaining how the course is going
the local authority will actively monitor quality of courses and events using suitably qualified evaluators who will observe sessions on a programme of random visits

We have a ZERO course cancellation policy.

No course will be cancelled except where it is impossible to run eg where:

This is to reduce the negative implications and impact which cancellations have on schools.

Wherever possible, courses which don’t go ahead due to the above reasons will be rescheduled.
