School organisation

One of the most important and challenging roles of local authorities is the planning of school places. The school organisation plan (SOP):

outlines current and projected supply and demand for school places in Ealing
outlines the principles and factors the LA believes should guide decisions about planning school places
makes conclusions regarding the need to add or remove school places within the borough

The plan, which is a government requirement, is considered and approved by the school organisation committee (SOC) following wide consultation. The SOC consists of representatives from:

local councillors
school governors
London diocese
Westminster diocese
Learning and Skills Council
