Grand designs for Southfields

Pupils at Southfields Primary School have joined forces with architects, engineers and designers to carry out a Changing Rooms style makeover on the 100 year old school.

The pupils have been coming up with lots of ideas, such as turning the attic into an acting room and building a balcony in the art class. There is a catch – all the work has to be completed in one week.

The makeover is part of National School Environments Week, which aims to show that working in nice places helps students learn.

The pupils are going to be busy with their paintbrushes too. Not only are they coming up with the ideas; they’re also helping out with the work too.

BBC Breakfast is running a feature on this unique project and will air the results on Friday 25 June.
