Early years conference 'Mind the word gap - How to extend children's vocabulary'

Saturday, 23 March 2019, 10:00 - 15:30
5 hours 30 minutes
Location
University of West London, St Mary's Road, Ealing W5 5RF

Please note we can only offer 2 free places per setting and one place to childminders.

This year’s Early Years training and development conference will focus on enriching children’s language.

High level vocabulary impacts understanding across all areas of learning and can create good levels of language comprehension; affecting all parts of life in a positive way. Many children start school with levels of vocabulary much lower than age related expectations and studies have shown that if this is not addressed in the early years, there is a negative impact on self-esteem and academic success.

We want to inspire you to take a creative and focussed approach to supporting vocabulary development within your setting. The day starts with a talk from early years education expert and best-selling author Nancy Stewart who has championed innovation in communication and language development; followed by a choice of interactive workshops designed to promote discussion and support planning.
