Supporting pupils with medical conditions at school policy - update

Update New information icon

25 Jun 2018

The 'Supporting pupils with medical conditions at school' policy working group are now considering both amendments to the policy as a result of the consultation feedback and a number of new documents that consultation respondents felt would be helpful to accompany the policy. These include the following:

  • Levels of training information
  • Insurance/liability information
  • Guidance on wording for job descriptions.

Once the working group have considered all documents, we will then talk to the Ealing Safeguarding Children Board (ESCB) for final approval before launching it to schools.

Dcouments to be published September

Whilst all the documents will be ready soon, it will potentially be just before you break up for the summer in July.

We did not think it would be helpful to send to schools at this time so we have decided to delay publication of the final policy and supporting documents until September. These will be communicated via gatekeeping to all schools and the directors' report to all governors.

Dates for briefings to accompany the launch will also be advertised.

Once launched it will be vital that governing boards/schools review their policy according to their specific needs before adopting. We are looking for all schools to have reviewed/adopted by the end of the autumn term 2018.

Apologies for this delay, but we are confident the accompanying doumentation, which has slightly delayed publication, will be worth the wait.
