Ealing Trailblazer project: Ealing's new mental health support teams
20 Apr 2020
Following the successful Trailblazer project bid to fund mental health support teams by Ealing Local Authority, in partnership with West London NHS Trust, we have now recruited to these teams and they are starting to operationalise.
The teams will predominantly offer brief, focused, evidence based interventions, either 1:1 or in groups, to children and young people with mild to moderate difficulties who wouldn’t otherwise reach the threshold for CAMHS.
The teams will begin working in eight primary and eight high schools after Easter. These partnership schools have been selected based on the level of need in their school population, current mental health investment and support, and development of mental health leadership. They are:
|Primary schools||High Schools|
|Alec Reed Academy||Alec Reed Academy|
|Allenby Primary||Ark Acton|
|Ark Priory||Brentside High|
|Clifton Primary||Drayton Manor|
|Downe Manor||Featherstone High|
We will be working to expand the service offer to other schools, however this has been made more difficult by the current Coronavirus pandemic.
The service is based at Ealing Primary Centre and managed by West London NHS Trust in partnership with the Centre, who will work with Ealing Council’s Health Improvement Team to ensure effective communication and liaison with schools.
Further communication about the development and implementation of the programme will be disseminated through gatekeeping, networks, including the Mental Health Network and briefings. If you would like to know more please feel free to contact Jon Hicks or Karen Gibson.
