The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) has been contracted by the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) to develop and deliver the reception baseline assessment. This includes the trial and pilot phases and the first two years of statutory delivery.

The assessment was trialled in a nationally representative sample of schools between September and November 2018. The next stage in the development process is a large-scale voluntary pilot, which will commence in September 2019.

Invitations to take part have been sent to all schools and the deadline to respond is 5 April 2019. The baseline will become statutory in September 2020.

Headteachers will need to be aware that there will be no data made available to schools so you will need to consider whether you want to have your own baseline running alongside this.

Further information can be found by following the link below:

The LA would like to keep a record of the schools taking part in the pilot so please can you inform us by emailing Himisha Patel, early years quality and partnership principal lead (details below)

Early years foundation stage profile (EYFSP)

If your school is not included in the EYFSP moderation cycle this year, your teachers/early years practitioners should attend training (outlined in the 2019 EYFSP handbook p.43) which can be booked via Ealing CPD online .

The revised EYFSP is currently being piloted and the outcome of this should be released very soon.

Teachers will be expected to complete the EYFSP in the summer term of 2019/20 as well as the baseline at the beginning of the autumn term 2019/20 (if taking part in the voluntary pilot.)
