Asthma friendly schools (AFS) is a partnership between UK's local authorities, health, and education to help improve asthma control before it leads to school absences and hospital admissions.
Asthma is the most common long-term condition, with about 3 students in every classroom affected. AFS support and *free training is done annually by the Ealing asthma nurse specialist and Ealing school nurses with schools earning a certificate upon completion.
Sadly, the UK still has some of the worst asthma control with thousands of pupils in London are getting sick with their asthma, missing school, and needing to go to hospital for emergency treatment.
By working together, we can improve asthma control, school attendance and reduce hospital admissions.
