School effectiveness

Agreed Syllabus

The final version of the new agreed syllabus—Sowing the seeds of the future: an exploration of human beliefs and values—is now available. This syllabus was unanimously approved by the Agreed Syllabus Conference on 8 July 2014 and ratified by Ealing Cabinet on 22 July, to be implemented in Ealing schools from September 2014.

There are no longer core and optional units in the programmes of study. Schools are required to teach all of the units, however after these have been taught teachers are welcome to fill any gaps with school-based units. Most of the units will be familiar from the previous syllabus, but there are several new units in key stages 2 and 3.

It should be noted that the schemes of work posted on this site (see links to relevant key stage) are examples only; they are not prescriptive, and teachers are welcome to amend and adapt them. These schemes are currently being reviewed, and new versions will be uploaded as and when they are finished.
