Ealing SACRE steering group for syllabus review

23 May 2025

Ealing SACRE is currently undertaking a review of our locally agreed Religious Education (RE) syllabus.

As part of this process, we are enlarging our steering group to include a broader range of voices from classroom practitioners.

We would like to invite teachers with experience or interest in RE – from both primary and secondary phases – to participate in this important work.

The review will focus on:

  • Integrating recent national recommendations on Religion and Worldviews
  • Evaluating the depth and breadth of coverage in the current syllabus
  • Ensuring the syllabus reflects the needs of Ealing’s diverse school communities
  • Supporting high-quality, inclusive, and academically robust RE

This is a key opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of RE in our schools. We are particularly keen to hear from:

  • RE subject leads or coordinators
  • Teachers with experience teaching RE across key stages
  • Those interested in inclusive curriculum development and intercultural understanding

Meetings will be held termly, with some work between sessions. Input can also be given flexibly depending on availability.

If you are interested in joining the steering group, or would like to find out more, please contact Jan McGuire at EEC@ealing.gov.uk by Monday 30 June 2025.

We would aim to meet once online before the end of the Summer term date to be confirmed.

Thank you for your continued commitment to high-quality RE in Ealing.
