DfE guidance induction for Early Career Teachers (ECT)
Statutory guidance induction for early career teachers(link is external) (GOV.UK) New guidance now published which comes into force on 1 September 2021
The term early career teacher (ECT) replaces newly qualified teacher (NQT).
This guidance
- updates and replaces the previous NQT statutory guidance (2018)
- explains the induction provisions for ECTs and
- helps individuals comply with Education Regulations (2012) for induction.
Where possible, schools should have regard to this amended statutory guidance in relation to ECTs who began their statutory induction before 1 September 2021.
The AB has produced a short summary of the DfE induction guidance for ECTs (log in to view).
