2020 panels- special educational needs assessment service

13 Nov 2019

Ealing has been reviewing the effectiveness of the SEND and inclusion 0-25 panel which was introduced in September 2014 as part of the SEND reforms and identified a number of issues that could be better covered by dividing the panel into:

  • Children aged 0-14 will continue weekly on Tuesday mornings from 9am to 1pm
  • Young people aged 14+ which will be twice a month on a Thursday afternoon.

On alternative Mondays with 14-25 panels, we will also hold annual review panels.

This should enable timely management of cases and provide robust education, health and care advice, quality assurance and monitoring.

The remits of the two panels will be broadly similar. Both will promote integration and personalisation, with a greater emphasis on preparing for adulthood, learning, living and work in the 14+ Panel. The work of the panels will continue to inform the SEND strategy.

We trust that existing high school colleagues will continue as representatives at 14+ panel and would like to invite other headteachers/principals or their delegated representatives from schools, colleges, settings and services to join us.

Please contact Jasmeet Kalsi (details below) with your available dates and will assign you accordingly. We would appreciate your response to be given by 12 December 2019.

The dates of the panels this year are set out below (downloads).
