The LA has been informed that as of 31 March, NHS Test and Trace is reintroducing confirmatory PCR testing for positive LFT’s carried out at assisted test sites such as schools.

This means that from now onwards, all staff and pupils who get a positive LFT, whether at home or supervised at school, will need to get a confirmatory PCT test. The PCR test should be booked immediately either online or by calling 119 and should be undertaken within 2 days.

Contact tracing

Staff or pupils who get a positive LFT will need to self-isolate immediately along with their household members and all close contacts whilst awaiting the PCR result.

If the PCR test is negative, this will override the LFT and all those involved can end their self-isolation.
