Asymptomatic testing and face coverings
08 Jun 2021
Schools are reminded to continue promoting and engaging with the asymptomatic testing of staff and secondary school pupils. Asymptomatic lateral flow testing is important because it can help break the chain of transmission, especially since 1 in 3 people do not display any symptoms of Covid-19.
Anyone who has previously received a positive Covid-19 PCR test result should not be re-tested within 90 days of that test, unless they develop any new symptoms of Covid-19. This means that individuals who have tested positive previously should not be tested with LFT or PCR tests for at least 90 days, except if they develop new symptoms.
The LA has not changed its stance on face coverings. The LA continues to strongly encourage pupils and staff to continue with face covering use in school settings as they are currently doing.
