ALFIE's healthy families programme continues after half term

14 Oct 2021

After half term the Healthy Families team will continue to run the virtual ALFIE programme!

The programme will especially support families who children have been identified as above a healthy weight as part of this years National Child Measurment Programme (NCMP).

The team will be running sessions everyday so families can pick and choose days and times that suit! Each child will receive a free goody bag on completion.

Interactive sessions

Sessions will continue to include a variety of interactive sessions on nutrition and healthy eating topics such as food label reading, food groups and portions sizes; there are even Ready Steady Cook style cooking demonstrations.

As families join from their home they are able to show examples and ask questions about the foods, drinks and portions they actually have at home. Families also get to take part in Joe Wicks style home workouts as well as fun games to increase levels of physical activity.

About the programme

The programmes include a combination of 1:1 sessions - where families get to meet the team, learn more about what to expect on the programme and start to set their own individualised SMART Goals and group sessions with other families.

The programme is for children who are above a healthy weight for their age so please do refer families you think may benefit from this programme and /or notify your families of the programme via your preferred method of communication.

All programmes are delivered by qualified nutrition and physical activity professionals. Programmes are free of charge and an adult (parent/carer) must be present at all sessions.
