Black History Month workshops and activities for children, young people and families

Local organisations Descendants, WAPPY and Oshun Education are providing a number of workshops and activities for children, young people and families during Black History Month.

Find out more about what happened to the Jamaican men who arrived on the Windrush, learn about the Ancient Kingdom of Benin or join a whole day of fun activities.

See below for details of the different workshops and activities, including whether they are being delivered in person or online and how to book.

Please note there is a small charge for some of the activities so please check the flyers for more details.

Details of workshops and activities

The Jamaican Men on the Empire Windrush - What Happened Next? (Oshun Education)
Date: Wednesday 20 October, 6 -7pm (Online session via Zoom). For children, young people and families.

Descendants 27th AGM Hope from Heritage… Footprint on the Land (Descendants)
Date: Thursday 21 October 7pm (Online session via Zoom). For parents and carers.

Ancient Kingdom of Benin-Exploring Afrikan History (WAPPY)
Date: Tuesday 26 October, 4.45 - 6.45pm (Online session via Zoom). For children, young people and families.

Writing & Akuba Telling Tales from Africa & the Caribbean (WAPPY)
Date: Wednesday 27 October, 1 – 3pm, Acton Library. For children, young people and families.
