Diversity in leadership programme

The Ealing diversity in leadership programme is a collaboration between the Ealing Learning Partnership (ELP) and Teach West London Teaching School Hub.

In Ealing whilst over 70% of our pupil population is from Black, Asian and minoritised backgrounds, for school leadership this translates into only 23%. Clearly, there is work to be done to address this imbalance and this programme is a small but important step in supporting career progression pathways for teachers from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnicity communities who would like to pursue roles in senior leadership - headship, deputy, and assistant headship roles.

Additional pool of candidates

The programme now has two cohorts (40) individuals from all phases, who would welcome the opportunity to apply for senior leadership positions in schools.

Some would also benefit from secondment opportunities to support growth and development in filling any gaps in skills and knowledge to help them secure future career progression. In short, this is an additional pool of candidates that schools can promote advertised vacancies and secondment opportunities to.

When schools are recruiting senior leadership positions or would like to offer / find secondments/ secondees for roles, please email a link to the advertised vacancy and / or details of the secondment to and cc .

This information will be circulated as appropriate to the 40 people who have participated in the Diversity in Leadership programme. Please include who they should contact for further details so they can liaise with you directly.
