Go green for Clean Air Day

12 Jun 2024

Clean Air Day is taking place on Thursday 20 June 2024.

Air pollution is real and harms the health of millions. But there are lots of simple things we can do to improve air quality and look after our own and other people’s health.

Clean Air Day is a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information with the whole school community and help make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Go green ideas

The school travel team are encouraging schools to 'Go Green for Clean Air Day’ to raise awareness of air pollution and improve air quality by encouraging active travel for the school journey. We would like all schools to promote ‘green’ activities on 20 June, such as:

  • wear green clothes, or just green socks – the whole school can join in and this will be a great photo for your newsletter and STARS
  • eat green food on the day - Could you ask your caterers to offier green food or ask families to include green food in children’s lunch boxes? Spinach makes a great green food colouring!
  • deliver assemblies and lessons about air pollution – this helps to raise awareness and gives you the opportunity to highlight active travel as a way to improve air quality and encourage more families to walk, scoot and cycle.
  • organise an X campaign to tell us how families Go Green - schools with an X account can ask parents to post about their ‘green’ activities, tagging their school and @EalingSTARS. Let’s see who can post the best activity and photo.
