About The Big Ask

The Big Ask is a survey for children and young people aged 4–17 in England.

The survey has been split into different age groups, so children and young people can fill in a version appropriate for their age. There are also made easy-read ‘accessible’ versions as well as a version for care leavers.

Complete the Big Ask survey - it should only take 5-10 minutes.

Why take part?

This is a chance for children and young people to have their say on the things that matter to them. They can tell us what their life is like, what they want in the future, and anything they think is holding them back.

We’ll use what they say to tell the people who run the country or their local area what they think needs to change to make their lives better.

Resources

You can download promotional resources for The Big Ask, including posters, social media posts and activity packs for children and young people.

The survey is accompanied by an online video introduced by England and Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford.

Share the survey

Message from Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner for England:

Please share the survey so we can reach as many children as possible.

Your cooperation will be crucial for us to ensure that all children and young people, including those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, have their voices heard.

The results from this survey will help me identify the barriers preventing children from reaching their potential, put forward solutions and set ambitious goals for the country to achieve. I need to reach as many children as possible through The Big Ask – the more I hear from, the stronger the results will be.
