Dyslexia type difficulties outreach support in spring 2024

Training offer

A comprehensive training programme for teachers to understand the challenges presented by dyslexia type learning difficulties and to learn how to support children in KS2 and 3 through small group or quality first teaching approaches.

This includes:

  • the promotion of a variety of teaching schemes, practical resources, and assistive technology
  • how to identify difficulties and differentiate classwork to support children who find learning to read and write a challenge.

Up to 2 teachers per school can apply to attend the training

Day 1 – Tuesday 16 January 2023 at Lady Margaret Primary School

Full training day developing teacher knowledge around the elements that cause the challenges for learners with dyslexia type difficulties. Opportunities to review learning resources and ideas to improve quality first and small group teaching

Day 2 - Tuesday 30 Janaury specific planning and review

Half day training (morning or afternoon) supporting the same teachers from session 1 to develop planning and resources for children identified with specific difficulties.

Day 3 – Bespoke half day in-school training as required by the attending school (Morning, afternoon or twilight bookings on Tuesdays in Autumn term).

Suggested options

  • LSA and TA training supporting children to develop skills to help reading and writing progress
  • SENCO training – Further assessment and planning time with SENCO for children suspected of dyslexia type difficulties
  • Whole school twilight – whole staff training looking at ways quality first teaching can support children with dyslexia type difficulties.
