Governing boards visiting each other - ELP pilot
29 Sep 2021
As part of Ealing Governance Service’s priorities and in response to feedback from governing boards, we are looking to revive the ELP governing board learning visits.
We have written to all schools who were part of the original pilot but are also extending the invitation to those who would like to be part of the opportunity for governing boards (GBs) to learn from each other and provide opportunities to collaborate and support governance across schools in Ealing.
The original pilot had only just begun in January 2020 before COVID struck! The world of governance has changed considerably since then and how GBs might best conduct business going forward will be of interest to all.
Aim of the pilot
The aim is to have a cohort of approx. 15-20 schools. Governors from participating schools will be matched into small groups (of approx. three schools) with each building strong, supportive and mutually beneficial relationships, learning from each other and bringing about improvements and confidence in their role.
They will agree a visits schedule for visiting GBs to see practice but also share resources (as appropriate). Representative governors visiting (usually 2 maximum) would then share with their own GBs what they had learnt to improve practice. It will also provide a useful network of peer to peer support for those involved.
The pilot will run from autumn (2) until the end of July 2022. There will be a launch event in autumn (2) for groups to meet, agree priorities and how they will work together.
Interested in participating?
If you are interested in participating please email email@example.com by Monday, 11 October.
The email should detail what you think you would like gain from participating and also confirm that discussions between the HT and chair / GB have occurred and participation in the pilot has been agreed.
If you would like to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact Therese on the details below.
We look forward to working with boards on this exciting opportunity - part of our governance peer to peer support and development priorities for 2021+
