Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 published
KCSIE 2025 was been published on 1 September 2025 and comes into force immediately.
There are no changes from the version distributed in July.
- There is a note that the DfE intend to publish the 'revised guidance on gender questioning children soon'.

Online Safety
Three key areas have been updated to the online safety section:
- Misinformation, disinformation and conspiracy theories
- New link to the Generative AI guidance
- Reference to the Cyber Security Standards for schools
Also included is a new resource to support how we understand and respond to such materials as professionals Understanding and responding to AI-generated child sexual abuse material
Alternative provision
KCSIE 2025 now embeds safeguarding guidance from the DfE guidance Arranging alternative provision (DfE, February 2025)
Support for harmful sexual behaviour
Alongside the long-standing Lucy Faithfull Foundation toolkit, KCSIE now links to the Shore Space which is a confidential online chat service for young people concerned about their own or someone else’s sexual thoughts and behaviours.
