Revised grievance procedure

The model schools grievance procedure has been re-written.
The purpose of the changes has been to:
- Reduce the overall length
- Provide staff with template letters and forms for each stage and
- Place more emphasis on trying to find an informal solution to any concerns before a formal grievance is raised.
Teacher and support staff unions have already been consulted on the new procedure which also follows the ACAS code of practice. .
Under the School Staffing Regulations 2009, Part 1, 7 (b) the governing body must establish procedures by which staff may seek redress for any grievance relating to their work at the school. So, although schools do not have to adopt this model procedure, if they do not they must adopt a different version instead.
