Chapter seven of the fifth edition of the London Child Protection Procedures which deals with allegations against staff or volunteers who work with children was updated in October 2017.

We have updated the model procedures for schools to reflect the changes.

It is a statutory requirement that schools have a policy that deals with allegations made against staff and volunteers.

The main changes are reflected in:

  • Section one which provides more details of what allegations should be referred to the LADO
  • Section two that provides more information on the difference between an "allegation" that ought to be referred and a "concern" that can be dealt with at a local level
  • Section sixteen which includes updated contact details including those of the new LADO Kogie Perumall.

And finally we are now advised we are back to using the phrase LADO rather than just DO.

The new guidance can be found on the HR policies page and the staff allegations page (related content links below).
