School supply agency staffing managed service provision from September 2021

06 May 2021

Background

Ealing historically has a high spend for supply staff and the ELP business committee was asked to review this. We went out to formal tender using the CCS framework to appoint a managed service provider with the aim we could reduce our future costs/spend.

We are one of many LAs and Trusts that have adopted this approach as it will enable us to reduce supply spend costs per school (expected minimum 7%), without impacting on quality of staff and it will, in addition, reduce administrative burdens with invoicing/bookings/contracts.

MSP with Reed from 1 September

The managed service provision (MSP) contract has been awarded to Reed and will commence on 1 September 2021 for two years, plus one year extension option. Reed has an established track record of delivering MSPs in London and nationally.

Schools that signed up will be receiving a welcome pack from Reed shortly

We are currently finalising the rate card which will be circulated to you

We have identified a list of Ealing agency suppliers and we will be engaging with them to discuss joining our MSP supply chain. The agencies will be looking to continue to work with you and we want to achieve this via the MSP supply chain so that your school can achieve the cost and time savings we have outlined.

The contract will be paying the London Living Wage

Next steps

The next steps are important as we move forward with being ready for September.

Our implementation group would like to invite headteachers, deputy heads or SBMs who would like their schools to be leads for the new service to join us in the summer term planning phase and/or be part of the operational group moving forward to ensure the contract fulfils schools' expectations.

If you would like to discuss further please contact Alison abennett@ealing.gov.uk
