TfL STARS is changing - Travel for Life

18 Sep 2023

Last Thursday, Transport for London launched the rebrand of STARS.

The new programme is called Travel for Life and brings together

  • Road Safety Club
  • STARS
  • Junior Travel Ambassadors
  • Safety and Citizenship
  • STARS Challenge and
  • TravelSmart

under one exciting new umbrella programme.

Junior Travel Ambassadors will now be called TfL Explorer Ambassadors. Youth Travel Ambassadors or STARS Challenge students will now be called TfL Pioneer Ambassadors.

Website update

TfL will begin to update the website and resources with the new names and logos, with a view to having everything completed, and all previous STARS stories and surveys transferred to Travel for Life, over the next few months.

The rebranding won’t affect any of the work schools do on active, responsible and safe travel, or the work schools have been doing on STARS. Much needed improvements will be made to the website but the principles of the accreditation system will be the same. School Champions will not need to re-register if they already have a STARS account.

Further details

At this stage we have no further information or timeframes, but we have attached some information from Transport for London that provides further details under downloads.

We will cover any additional updates at our forthcoming champion workshops. We will contact school champions directly when further information is available from TfL.
