2024-25 scheme

The management committee has decided to continue with the scheme for 2024-25. Please see appendices 1 and 3 below for scheme details and how the scheme will operate.

Review of the 2023-24 scheme

The management committee for the legal insurance scheme for advice on employment matters have reviewed the operation of the scheme for 2023-24.

In summary the review noted:

• 34 schools joined the legal insurance scheme in 2023-24. This covered 2,049 employees
• The total receipts for the scheme were £40,980.00. This was added to the scheme surplus of £53,417.00, which was carried forward from 2022-23. Therefore the total fund available to the scheme was £94,397.00.
• In the main claims covered legal expenses associated with drawing up settlement agreements and representing schools in employment tribunals or preparation for same. The scheme helped 14 schools this year.
• After all claims were paid and accruals taken into account, the scheme was left with a surplus of £52,524.48. The management committee decided to pay 30% of capped element of claims made by schools.
