This year the theme is Story Garden: Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors! Featuring artwork by awardwinning illustrator Dapo Adeola, this year's theme aims to inspire children to engage with nature, storytelling and imagination.
How to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge
- Borrow and read six books over the summer holidays. You can read whatever you like to receive rewards and a certificate and medal, once you have completed the challenge
- Audiobooks and eBooks can also be used to complete the challenge. You can access audiobooks and eBooks via Libby and Borrowbox which are free to sign up, using your library card
- There will be special activities, author events, planting activities, special art and craft and story activities throughout this period so keep an eye on our website and at the posters in your local library.
The challenge begins on 5 July 2025 and ends in the middle of September.
Visit your library to sign up
Signing up to the challenge is free. You just need to be a library member, which is also free.
