We can confirm that all social work staff and other staff employed by Ealing Council who frequently work with children and Ealing FM engineering staff who carry out maintenance work in schools have been subject to an enhanced DBS check.

'Frequently' is defined as once a week or more often, or on four or more days in a 30-day period.

Which staff

For social work, this applies equally to both locum and permanent staff in the positions of:

  • Social workers
  • Senior social workers
  • Social work assistants
  • Deputy managers
  • Team managers
  • Operations managers
  • Assistant directors.

Other council employees who are also covered include, for example:

  • Educational psychologists
  • Music tutors
  • Passenger assistants
  • Teachers in the behaviour strategy and inclusion service
  • Ealing FM engineering staff.

Ealing ID badges

On several occasions, staff who are visiting schools to see children or carry out reactive and planned maintenance tasks have been asked to produce proof of identity and proof of DBS clearance.

All staff are, of course, required to provide proof of identity when they visit your school.

We hereby confirm that you should accept a photographic Ealing ID badge as providing this proof of identity.
