Teacher training – salaried trainee route

Do you have teaching post vacancies for September 2025? Have you considered recruiting a salaried trainee teacher?

Applications for Teach West London’s September 2025 initial teacher training (ITT) programmes close on 16 June, so it is not too late to advertise your vacancy.

Important things to know initial teacher training (ITT) programme

  • A salaried trainee teacher can teach a 60% timetable from September 2025.
  • A salaried trainee teacher would have 3 years work history which might include previous experience in educational settings.
  • Employing schools are fully involved in the recruitment process from reviewing application to making the final decision on whether to offer a 1-year contract to a trainee for September 2025.
  • The salaried trainee would be paid a UQ1 salary whilst training (could work out cheaper than agency fees).
  • Employing trainees can pay for their own QTS fees.
  • Trainees would attend professional learning every Monday, bringing new ideas back into school.
  • Salaried trainees will only spend 10 school days on 2nd placement (Spring 1). Where possible, reciprocal swaps will be arranged.
  • Trainees will need to be released for 4 weeks (one week per half-term in Autumn and Spring) for intensive training and practice.

If you would like to offer a salaried placement, please complete the ITT placement school offer form or if you would like more information, complete the ITT partner school expression of interest form.
