The Health improvement team are delighted to announce that the new Primary PSHE SOW will be launching on 9 November 2023.

PSHE leads and senior leaders are welcome to attend our launch event to receive first access to the scheme.

New scheme of work

The new scheme has been devised with support from colleagues across the local authority and dedicated PSHE Leads in our Ealing schools. With help from a dedicated working party, feedback was gathered from the current scheme which identified gaps in topic area, lack of assessment opportunity and weak links to the fundamental British Values.

Schools feedback was taken on board and the updated scheme which covers provision from early years to year 6 addresses these concerns whilst introducing new lessons tackling topical issues such as harmful sexual behaviour, race equality and eco-schools.

Lesson planning has been streamlined to support the increasing demand on teachers and resources have been updated to ensure students have access to age-appropriate and up to date information covering all statutory and contextually relevant topics.

The resources have been designed to be used in school from January 2024 so attending staff will receive information on how to deliver staff CPD in school on the updated scheme in the Autumn Term.

The event will be an opportunity for schools to get a first look at the finalised scheme, hear from key contributors and be a chance to provide initial feedback. There will also be a light lunch provided.
