Services for children

SAFE referrals

Supportive action for families in Ealing (SAFE) is an area-based, multi-disciplinary service bringing together professionals from social work, domestic violence, education, parenting and mental health backgrounds.

The service offers a range of preventative interventions to ensure better long-term outcomes for families.

SAFE works with families to address problems as they arise, before they become bigger and harder to deal with.

SAFE teams

SAFE currently has two family support / early intervention teams

  • SAFE east supporting families living in Acton, Ealing and Hanwell
    Contact Diane Saunders saundersd@ealing.gov.uk
  • SAFE west supporting families living in Greenford, Perivale, Southall and Northolt
    Contact Emma Handley handleye@ealing.gov.uk

There is also a SAFE plus team working with families who require more intense support.

Each team has a team manager, three deputy team managers, five social workers and seven family practitioners.

Attached to each team there is:

  • A family safety worker offering support to children and their families who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Two youth workers who offer support to young people aged between 12-18 via 1:1 support and workshops. Workshops run for six sessions and are based on referrals from within the SAFE service and focus on themes relating to relationships, online safety, identity and self-esteem
  • A substance misuse worker who provides psycho education and support strategies for young people, parents and carers who are affected by substance misuse
  • Our SAFE educational psychologist sits within the service and will complete a SAFE assessment to support families where the needs are with regards to education.
